· Day 1: Palermo · Upon arrival at the airport of Catania transfer to Taormina. · Day 2: Etna and Taormina · Greek Theatre of Taormina After breakfast, departure for Mount Etna, the highest volcano in Europe and “the forges” of the god Hephaistos. Arrival at the cable car station (5.700 feet). Depending on the weather conditions, possibility of taking a walk on the cold lava rivers. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon we will drive to Taormina “pearl of Sicily”, where you will visit the Greek-Roman theatre; time for shopping. Dinner on your own and overnight. · Day 3: Siracusa / Catania · After breakfast departure to Siracusa, the wealthiest of the ancient Greek towns. Visit to the archeological area including the famous latomie of Paradise and the “Ear of Dyonisos”, the Greek Theatre and the Roman Anphitheatre. Continuing the visit of Ortigia island with the famous Cathedral and the Aretusa Fountain. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon departure for Catania; panoramic tour of the city. Leisure time. Overnight. · Day 4: Alcantara Valley Cooking Course · After breakfast, we will drive to the Alcantara Valley for the cooking lesson. A walk takes us to the market where we'll purchase fresh fruit, vegetables and all the ingredients for the cooking course. In the afternoon back at hotel. · Day 5: Piazza Armerina and Agrigento · After breakfast departure to Piazza Armerina visit the Roman villa del Casale, famed for its well preserved mosaics dating back to the III°-IV° century A.D. Lunch on your own. This afternoon depart for Agrigento to visit the Valley of the Temples including the Temple of Juno, Concordia, Heracles, Zeus and Castor and Pollux. Back at hotel. · Day 6: Palermo / Monreale · Martorana Church in Palermo Departure to Palermo. Visit the Cathedral, the Martorana church. Then continue to Monreale for the visit of the marvellous Cathedral and the Benedictine Cloister. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon optional tour to the “Capo” market, Mount Pellegrino and Mondello, summer resort of Palermo. Overnight in Palermo. · Day 7: Segesta / Erice · Today we will visit one of the most spectacular Doric temple from the 5th Century BC, perfectly preserved. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon we will visit the medieval town of Erice where we will taste the famous marzipan. Dinner on your own. · Day 8: Palermo · After breakfast, transfer to the airport.
